Anubhuti celebrated summer vacations through a week-long #summercamp in end of April with more than 130 adolescents of 6 NT-DNT, Adivasi, rural, tent communities – Kolegaon, Rahtoli, Circus Ground, Chon, Vitthalwadi, and Prakash Nagar in Kalyan, Dombivali, Vittlalwadi, Ambernath and Badlapur in Thane District. Through art and games-based workshops, these young children are meeting everyday to create, express, interact, present, participate, analyze and build their social and intellectual leadership.
These workshops included Stone Painting and Warli Painting (expressing their ideas for Child Safety and Child Recommendations to Stakeholders through art), Science Games (learning scientific concepts through practical experimental games), Anti-Superstition (practical understanding the logic behind “miracles” which are nothing but scientific tricks).
There was also a Joint full-day end of camp workshop with children from all centres together – different groups carrying out mask-making, frames-making, collage-making and quilt-stitching.
Each group based their artwork on all our Indian leaders from Gautam Buddha, Jijabai, Shivaji Maharaj, Sant Tukoba, Lokmata Ahilyabai, Mahatma Phule, Savitribai Phule, Fatima, Mukta Salve, Shahu Maharaj, Dr. Ambedkar, Sant Gadge Maharaj, Bhagat Singh, and many others whom these children saw as their grandparents and elders from whom they can learn life’s lessons.
