Dalit, Bahujan, Adivasi women are deeply connected to nature. They have led inventions, science and discoveries in nature. They have been at the forefront of environment conservation & protection such as Chipko and Arey movements. They have suffered exploitation and belittlement of their production & reproduction, their beauty, their resilience, their intellectual property – similar to the exploitation of nature.
Above are glimpses of discussions from yesterday’s full day camp on “Gender Leadership & Environment Justice” with 45 Adivasi, Bahujan, NTDNT women of 5 villages/padas.
We truly appreciate our youth leaders who planned, packed, encouraged, cajoled, negotiated with family, did housework and ensured that their mothers and mothers’ friends came to the camp!
